Friday Night Magic
About This Event
Every Friday night, Bakersfield eSports Center hosts Friday Night Magic for players of all skill levels. We run Commander and Standard every week. Commander pods fire as they fill. Standard rounds run Swiss-style so everyone gets multiple matches regardless of record.
Whether you've been playing Magic: The Gathering for years or you're brand new to MTG, there's a seat and a match waiting for you. New players are welcome and we're happy to teach. The vibe is casual but competitive. Show up, find your pod and play cards with people who actually want to be there.
Rules & Format
Commander and Standard, every week. Pick your format or play both. Bring your own constructed deck. Commander follows the official Rules Committee banlist. Standard follows the current WotC rotation. We sell Magic: The Gathering singles and sealed product at the venue if you need to grab something last-minute. All skill levels welcome.

Schedule
Doors open at 12 PM. Games start at 6:30 PM. Commander pods fire as they fill throughout the night. Standard runs Swiss rounds with pairings posted between rounds.

Q: Do I need to bring my own deck to Friday Night Magic?
A: We recommend it, but we sell MTG singles and sealed product on-site if you need to build or update a deck before games start.
Q: What if I've never played Magic: The Gathering before?
A: Come anyway. We'll teach you the basics and get you into a game.
Q: Can I play both Commander and Standard?
A: Yes, and most players float between formats throughout the night.
