Smash Ultimate at Bakersfield Collector Con 2026

About This Event

Smash Ultimate is coming to Bakersfield Collector Con, August 8 and 9 at the Dignity Health Arena Theater & Convention Center.

Here's how it works. Saturday runs pools and cuts to the top 16. The top 16 come back Sunday to finish the bracket. Singles, double elimination, so you have to lose twice before you're out. One bad set doesn't end your day.

Sets are best of 3 through pools and bracket, best of 5 at top 8.

Entry is $20. Register at start.gg ahead of time or walk up day of, same price either way. Check-in closes at 11:30 AM Saturday and the bracket starts at noon.

Heads up: tournament entry doesn't include Collector Con admission. You'll need a con ticket to get in the building, and venue parking is separate too.

Bring your own controller. Once you're inside, follow the signage to find us.

Rules & Format

FORMAT
Double elimination. Saturday runs pools in waves and cuts to top 16. Top 16 finishes Sunday.
Best of 3 through pools and bracket. Best of 5 at top 8.
If registration outruns the schedule, TOs may adjust early-round set counts to keep the day on time. You'll hear it at the player meeting, never mid-bracket.

GAME SETTINGS
3 stock, 7:00 timer. Items off, stage hazards off. FS Meter off, Spirits off, Stage Morph off. Launch Rate 1.0x, Underdog Boost off. Pause off, Score Display off.

STAGES
Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Final Destination, Pokemon Stadium 2, Smashville, Town and City, Hollow Bastion. All seven are legal all set.

SET PROCEDURE
1. Rock paper scissors. Winner chooses to strike first or pick port.
2. Game 1 stage: strike 1-2-2-1 from the full list of seven.
3. Double-blind character pick available on request for game 1.
4. After each game: winner bans two stages, loser picks from what's left.
5. Winner can't repeat a stage they already won on in that set.
6. Gentleman's clause: any stage both players agree to, any game.

CONDUCT
Mid-set coaching: no. Between games: fine.
Pausing mid-game costs the stock, even accidental.
Intentionally throwing sets or manipulating bracket results gets both players DQ'd.
Lag or hardware issues: freeze, call a TO, don't self-rule.

CONTROLLERS
Bring your own. All standard controllers legal, no turbo or macro functions.
Wireless controllers must be disconnected from the console the moment your set ends. Interrupting a live match with a stray connection is a warning, then a game loss.

LATENESS
Check-in closes Saturday at 11:30 AM.
5 minutes late to a called set is a game loss. 10 minutes is the set.

TOs' calls are final on everything above.

Prizes

$500 prize pool, guaranteed. More entries can push it higher. Split goes to top finishers.
