Tekken 8 Tournament
About This Event
Tekken 8 tournament at BEC. Sunday, September 13. First games at 5 PM.
1v1 double elimination on our PCs, running Tekken World Tour settings. Best of 3 games per set until top 8, best of 5 from there through grand finals. Lose once and you drop to the losers bracket, not out the door, so everyone plays at least two sets.
$20 if you pre-register at bakersfieldesports.com by Saturday the 12th at 11:59 PM. $30 day of. $10 from every entry goes straight into the prize pot, so every player who signs up makes 1st place worth more.
Never entered a bracket before? Start here. Staff calls every match and tells you where to sit, and the settings are already locked on every station. Check in at the front desk between 4:15 and 4:45. Doors open at noon if you want to get games in first.

Rules & Format
1v1 double elimination. Best of 3 games per set, best of 5 from top 8 through grand finals. Grand finals is a true final: the player from losers has to beat the player from winners twice, the player from winners only needs to win once.
Settings are locked by staff on every station, matching the Tekken World Tour standard: first to 3 rounds, 60 second timer, random stage every game, customizations off, preset costumes legal, Special Style allowed.
Winner keeps their character between games. Loser can switch. Blind pick for game 1 on request. Full roster is legal, including every released DLC character on our stations.
Pausing or a controller disconnect mid-round forfeits the round. Wired controllers only, no macros or turbo, and staff checks gear before the bracket. 5 minutes late to a called match is a game loss, 10 is the match.

Prizes
$10 of every entry goes into the prize pot, pre-reg and day of alike. 16 players puts $160 in. 24 puts in $240.
Payouts by final field size:
4 to 7 players: 70/30
8 to 15 players: 50/30/20
16 or more: 50/25/15/10
Amounts round to the nearest $5 with the remainder going to 1st. Paid at the front desk right after grand finals.

Sunday, September 13
12:00 PM: doors open, come early to get games in
4:15 PM: check-in opens at the front desk
4:30 PM: day-of registration closes if the bracket has room
4:45 PM: check-in closes. Not checked in means not in the bracket.
5:00 PM: first games
Top 8 usually lands around 7:30 to 8:30 depending on turnout, with grand finals done well before close.
Bracket runs on start.gg. We post the link in the BEC Discord and have it up at check-in. Seeding is randomized, and staff may separate known top players in round one.
FAQs
Q: I've never entered a tournament. Should I?
A: Yes. Every bracket here has first-timers in it. Double elimination means you play at least two sets no matter what, staff tells you where to be the whole time, and watching top 8 after you're out teaches you more than a week of ranked.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: Pre-register at bakersfieldesports.com for $20 until Saturday, September 12 at 11:59 PM. After that it's $30, online or at the front desk, until day-of registration closes at 4:30 PM if the bracket has room.
Q: Do I need my own controller?
A: Bring your own wired pad, stick, leverless, or keyboard if you have one. House controllers may be available at the front desk. Staff checks personal gear before the bracket. No wireless, no macros, no turbo.
Q: When do I need to show up?
A: Check in at the front desk between 4:15 and 4:45 PM. If you're not checked in by 4:45, you're not in the bracket. First games at 5.
Q: Where does my entry money go?
A: $10 of every entry goes straight into the prize pot. The rest keeps the lights on and the event running. The pot pays out at the front desk after grand finals.
Q: Are DLC characters legal?
A: Yes. Full roster, plus every released DLC character installed on our stations.
Q: Can I use my custom outfits?
A: No. Customizations are off, same as Tekken World Tour. Preset costumes are fine, and if you and your opponent want the same preset, rock paper scissors settles it.
Q: What happens when I lose?
A: One loss sends you to the losers bracket. Two and you're out. The losers side runs all the way back to grand finals, and the player who comes through it has a real shot: beat the winners side player twice and the bracket is yours.
